A hybrid horror movie shot in Sagada is getting ready for international distribution.

The movie is a story of a happy family reunion and marriage announcement on Christmas Day at an isolated mansion in the Philippine mountains. The story unfolds into a series of bizarre, demonic, and tragic events.

“Darkest Night”  stars actor-director DJ Perry and Anne Gauthier, a debuting French-Filipina actress. Other Filipinos in the cast are Allan Dale Alopijan, Issa Litton and Marife Necesito. A Malaysian actor, Justin Chan, is part of the cast.

Russ Williams, the Malaysian-based American producer, tapped Noel Tan to direct the movie.

Tan is Filipino film and video director with broadcast, documentary and music video experience in Manila. He was a former director of photography for the Disney Channel in Singapore.

SAGADA, Mt. Province, Dec. 23 (PIA) — Instead of having a Christmas party, the municipal government here will donate a set amount to the victims of tropical storm “Sendong” in Mindanao.

According to Municipal Social Welfare Officer Esther Palao-ay, P39,000.00 is now ready to be remitted to the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Central Office through the Municipal Social Welfare Office here.

She said the amount came from the members of the Sangguniang Bayan of this municipality who contributed P2,000 each, and the department heads P1,500 each. The Sagada Multi-Purpose Cooperative also donated P3,000.

Palao-ay also said the Sangguniang Bayan has passed a resolution expressing the municipality’s sympathy to the victims of tropical storm “Sendong.” (JBS/PIA CAR, Mt. Province)
